Don began working in the bowling industry in 1982 as a part time counter worker for Gordy Larson at Luxury Lanes (later to become Airport Bowl) while attending college.  A few years after his parents purchased Airport Bowl, Don decided to stay in the bowling industry and started coaching youth bowlers in 1988. In 1991 organized a team to compete in the south metro youth traveling league. Two years later Don added a second team and then eventually a third  team. In 1994 Don helped form the Richfield High School Bowling Team and was their head coach for 14 years. The Richfield team won 11 conference titles, 2 Minnesota Invitational (MIT) titles and had numerous top 4 four finishes at the State Tournament with two 2nd place finishes. Richfield also produced 3 conference MVP's and over 20 all conference players in those 14 years.  Many of the bowlers who bowled for Don's traveling and High School teams also competed on the Minnesota Jr Bowlers Tour (MJBT). At  last count Don has worked with and helped produce over 40 MJBT Champions.  In 1996 Don opened up Bowling Dynamics Pro Shop at Airport Bowl. Also in 1996, Don joined the staff of Dick Ritger Bowling Camps. After many of Don's former youth players joined the adult ranks, Don decided to expand his teaching to include adults and in 2006 formed his own teaching company "Progressive Bowling Instruction" to address the growing need for quality instruction. In 2006, Don also became a lead instructor with the Dick Ritger Bowling camps and has traveled extensively throughout the country and to Europe conducting clinics and camps.  With the closing of Airport Bowl in August of 2010, Don decided to merge his pro shop and teaching business into one entity and opened " Progressive Bowling Instruction & Pro Shop" inside of Memory Lanes in August of 2010. Don has been named to   Bowlers Journal International's Top 100 coaches for last four years and recently completed a five day Powerhouse Pro Shop clinic to stay on top of all the new technology's and advanced drilling techniques that affect today's game.
